Dit Latijnse woord is in bloed gekrast op de plek waar een jonge vrouw op nietsontziende wijze is vermoord: IK HEB GEZONDIGD. Het is bedoeld als een kerstgroet en jaagt patholoog-anatoom Maura Isles en rechercheur Jane Rizzoli de stuipen op het lijf. Algauw brengen ze het slachtoffer in verband met de controversiële psychiater Joyce O'Donnell, lid van een sinistere groep die zich de Mefisto Club noemt.
Op Beacon Hill wijden de aanhangers van de Club zich aan de analyse van het kwaad. Kan het wetenschappelijk worden verklaard? Met behulp van mysterieuze religieuze symboliek proberen ze een verbijsterende theorie te bewijzen: Satan is onder ons. Maura en Jane raken verwikkeld in de angstaanjagendste zaak van hun carrière en gaan de confrontatie aan met een boosaardige vijand - wiens werk nog maar net is begonnen...

Weer een schitterend spannend boek van haar, met de vertrouwende rechercheur Jane Rizolli en patholoog Maura Isles.
Het is zo leuk dat deze en andere personen weer teugkomen met gewoon weer een heel nieuw, goed verhaal.

Een echte aanrader weer!
